Tendon Akimitsu Has A Bigger and Bolder Menu That’s Sure to Fill You Up

Who doesn't love Japanese food? Especially when they're delectable and affordable at the same time!

Who doesn't love Japanese food? Especially when they're delectable and affordable at the same time!

When Tendon Akimitsu, an award-winning tempura-tendon house from Japan first opened its doors in Manila, they had a pretty straightforward menu with thirteen rice bowls to choose from. After a year, they're now offering set meals that are made more affordable for Filipino diners but is sure to still fill you up.

Their new menu is categorized into three: donburi, tempura, and soba. All served with pickled cabbage, miso soup, and fresh fruit. Each of their Tendon Sets promise to give you a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine and will transport you to Asakusa, Tokyo where the restaurant originated from.

Handcrafted using premium and fresh ingredients crafted by their seasoned #TendonMasters, each dish is made-to-order and is meticulously prepared for every diner. For over 126 years, nothing has changed from their technique, making it only even better every time they dip the meat and vegetables to their special batter and fry it.

There are four kinds of donburis you can choose from: Nami Tendon Set (P390) which has tiger prawn, scallop and whitebait fish; Squid Tendon Set (P390) which has squid kakiage; and Ebi Tendon Set (P420) which highlights tiger prawns. Then there's the Mixed Tendon Set (P390) if you want a combination of everything in one bowl. One order gives you two plump tiger prawns, fish, carrot, eggplant, beans and shiitake mushroom-laced with their signature tempura sauce.

Tendon Akimitsu takes pride on their tempura so they made sure to offer three kinds of set meals: Ebi Tempura Set, Squid Tempura Set and the Mixed Tempura Set (P390) with tiger prawns, fish, carrot, eggplant, beans and shitake mushroom. Each piece of meat and vegetable is coated with its tempura batter and fried to golden crisp perfection.

Besides the Donburi and Tempura Set, they now also offer Soba Set Meals — Hot and Cold — you can choose from if you want to skip on rice. For only P390, each set comes with two tiger prawns, your choice of hot or cold soba, pickled cabbage and fresh fruit.

They have also revamped their maki and sashimi menu and added a colorful serving of Aburi Salmon Maki (P390), topped off with strips of torched salmon, cheese, and fruits. If you prefer classic favorites, there's the California Maki, Spicy Tuna/Salmon, buttery Salmon and Tuna Sashimi and the Spicy Tuna (P250) packing just the right amount of heat without overpowering your palate.

Whether you're dining alone, on a date or having your Sunday lunch with the family, Tendon Akimitsu's new set meals highlighting their award-winning tendon and tempura should be on your go-to restaurant list.
