B&P Just Like Home: A Home Outside Your Own

From classic Filipino breakfast favorites to a whopping five layer pancake, this is a new restaurant from Cravings Group you'd want to feast on.

What does B&P stand for? Bacon and Pancakes? Bread and Pasta? Beef Tapa and Pulang Itlog? The possibilities are endless.

B&P Just Like Home is the newest baby of the Cravings Group which is an all-day breakfast restaurant built to satisfy your hunger. They offer a wide selection of breakfast comfort food that customers will definitely enjoy. The unique menu will make you go back for more. And who does not love breakfast food, right?

The place is quite small, they can serve a maximum of 30 people inside and 10 people outside, but the interior is really lovely. There are mini frames put up on their yellow and brown walls to add a more homey feeling. It took them a total of six months to put all the ideas together and made sure to deliver them properly. Not only is Chef Boom, Corporate Executive Chef, in charge of B&P Just Like Home’s menu, he is also the one who came up with the whole concept of the store – from the sourcing of the quirky condiment containers to the modern kitchen design.

For drinks, you can choose from their all-time favorite coolers. Strawberry Lemon Quench (P110) is the perfect thirst quencher this summer; the popping bobbas will surprise you as yogurt oozes out with every pop – served in pretty mason jars.

Pork belly fried to perfection! When they say it’s malutong, they really live up to it. Having this as one of their best-sellers, it took them 2 months to actually perfect this dish. According to Chef Boom the Don Malutong (P275) is the Filipino version of everyone's favorite, bacon. It is served with garlic rice, choice of egg and papaya relish. Primera Tapa (P280) is not the typical Filipino tapa, well, because it’s made with premium Angus beef that is tender with every bite; served on a bed of garlic rice, scrambled egg and pickled relish.

This is a must-try for all the fried chicken lovers out there. A basket of BnP Chick to Chick (P425) is simmered in herbs and spices and coated in their buttermilk mixture; the breading of the chicken is light and crispy that it’s the kind that melts in your mouth in one bite. Pour their special gravy and you can now praise the gods above. Oh, and it’s served with your choice of homemade french toast or a piece of pancake.

Best Dad

Ground beef, grilled onions, spinach and scrambled egg whites is what makes the Best Dad (P175); one of the dishes that’s certainly for the health buffs. They also have Kick Boxing, Zumba, Yoga and Aerobics on their 'Grandma's Get Fit Menu.' Witty, right?

Baby Back Ribs

For the protein lovers, the fork-tender Baby Back Ribs (P430) with Texan BBQ sauce served with house fries and the 350-gram French Pork Chop (P350) stuffed with mushroom and cheese; served with their house gravy, steak fried rice and fresh tossed green salad are B&P signature dishes you’d want to sink your teeth into.

Pancake Supreme

By far the fluffiest pancake we’ve encountered. Pancake Supreme (P210) is a five-layer pancake made from scratch with strawberry, blueberry, banana, orange and mango in every layer; definitely something to share with a friend or have it all to your hungry self.

B&P is a cozy place – especially at night – where it is perfect for a catch up with your best friend, a date with someone special, or just a good old “me time” with yourself. Nevertheless, you will surely enjoy every visit. Make sure to check out the new branches that will be opening its doors this year; May 11 in Il Terrazzo and June 16 in McKinley Hill, The Fort.

Bea and Pia Trinidad – grand daughters of Annie Guerrero, founder of Cravings Groups – are the names behind B&P.

B&P is located at Vista 515 Shaw, Mandaluyong and is open from 7am to 12mn (Sunday-Thursday) and 7am to 2am (Friday-Saturday).
