Filipinos are noted for their knack for exploring and trying out the newest dining destinations. The passion for discovering great food is deeply ingrained in the Filipino culture, that access to good eats is vital to a truly dynamic lifestyle.

This is why this March, Avida Towers Asten, a high-rise residential development in West Makati is holding the first Avida Food Hunt. Envisioned to have a dynamic mix of retail and dining options catering to the needs of the passionate millennial crowd, Avida Towers Asten is inviting the public to a join special gastronomical adventure with *Chef JJ Yulo. The first leg of the tour will explore the different food destination in San Antonio Village, West Makati.

During the Avida Food Hunt, participants will get to sample specialty cuisines and epicurean fares in the neighboring Avida development. The destinations will be kept secret and will only be revealed as the tour progresses.

Last Saturday, Avida held a media-leg of the tour to give a sneak peek of what people can expect.

The Avida Food Hunt started at Titania Wine Bar and Café, a fine dining restaurant inside the Titania Grand Cellar along Yakal Street in San Antonio Village, Makati.

Here, the food hunt participants were given a crash course on wine appreciation and were able to taste fine wines imported from France, Italy, Spain, Chile, Argentina, California, and Australia.

After sampling wines and cheeses, the group proceeded to BonBahnmi.

This small restaurant, which is more like a kiosk, was opened in September 2013 by husband-and-wife team Thao Ngo and Anh Le. Bestseller here is their signature French bagel-inspired bun that is crispy on the outside yet soft inside. The sandwich is made in house using a delectable medley of choice meat and vegetables, topped with a family-concocted sauce. Bon Banhmi sandwiches are prepared with so much passion, only grade A ingredients are used to make it.

For the third stop, the food hunters dropped by 8065 Bagnet. This family restaurant is a popular chill out space with a Bohemian vibe, The group sampled Vigan bagnet dressed with different sauces: kare-kare, dinuguan, curry, and sinigang, and more.

The fourth joint was Mao Jia Hunan, which specializes in authentic Chinese dishes, particularly the spicy fares that are originally of Hunan province.

Hunan's best sellers are fish heads steamed in family-blended herbs and essences, and served in two spicy tones, mild spicy and ultra-spicy; spicy cabbage; and stir fried chicken. Wong Lo Kat tea, a very popular tea on the mainland China punctuates this meal.

For the last stop, the food hunters tried Bebe Rouge Patisserie, one of San Antonio Village's premier bakeshops. It is owned, managed, and operated by French-trained pastry chefs Atsushi and Jun. The group sampled their best selling strawberry shortcake and  other pastries like macaroons, galettes, desserts, and tea concoctions.

Avida Marketing Head Tess Tatco concludes, "We are doing the Avida Food Hunt because we want people to realize that Avida developments provide comfort and convenience to their residents. They are communities where everything is near, access to good life and great food and restaurants are all in the vicinity of an Avida home."

The public is encouraged to visit Avida Land’s Facebook page (/avidalandph) or Avida Showroom Glorietta (2/F, Glorietta 4) for more details on the next food hunt.
