After a prior collection last year, UNIQLO just announced another collaboration with Finnish house design brand Marimekko for a collection this holiday season. This 2019 Fall/Winter collection will drop on November 29, emphasizing Finnish winter traditions of Finland for women and for the first time, there are items for young girls and babies in store.
Yuki Katsuta, Head of Research & Development of UNIQLO, expresses his excitement for this collection, saying “We are very excited to introduce our second limited-edition collection designed in collaboration with Marimekko, following the success of our 2018 Spring/Summer collection,”
He adds on, “I am also pleased to see Marimekko prints and colors on such UNIQLO LifeWear as cashmere, Ultra Light Down and HEATTECH for the very first time. What a beautiful way to stay warm in the coming winter months, while celebrating a touch of Finnish tradition.”

Marimekko aims to empower people's happiness and to spread it daily through bold prints and colors. As for LifeWear, it is the UNIQLO commitment to construct high-quality clothing that is functional and price-friendly; to fit through everyone’s daily lifestyles. This collection fuses together the complementary goals of the two companies, making known the Finnish winter traditions of families enjoying the outdoors in the snowy forests under the magical northern lights, and gathering around the fireplace to warm up in the cozy atmosphere of their winter cabins.
What To Expect
This collaboration includes numerous new women’s items made specially to showcase some of Marimekko’s most recognizable prints, like the Kivet (stones) by Maija Isola in 1956, Tasaraita (even stripe) by Annika Rimala in 1968 and Siirtolapuutarha (city garden) by Maija Louekari in 2009. These bold, eye-catching prints will be featured on the first Ultra Light Down Cocoon Coat, Wool Cashmere Hoodie, shirt dresses, and jumpsuits. Also new are items for girls and babies for perfect pair coordination. The collection will also have great accessories; leggings for babies, knitted accessories, and HEATTECH socks.
