WATCH: Disney’s High School Musical Series Trailer

High School Musical fans are sure to go soarin' and flyin' for this upcoming series from Disney+!

In 2008, we bid goodbye to characters Troy, Gabriela, Chad, Taylor, Ryan, and Sharpay in the third installment of Disney's High School Musical (HSM) film series.

Eleven years later, we're breaking free! From missing the HSM characters that is, because a new show titled High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is coming our way through Disney's upcoming streaming service, Disney+!

Well, we're not exactly getting our beloved characters back, but we get characters who will play as our characters. Confused? Watch the trailer below:

The new show is a 10-episode scripted series set in the real-life East High, where the famous High School Musical film was shot. When a musical production based on the film rolls out, students compete to get the roles that they want. With docu-style filming and references from the original films, this series will put a modern twist to the High School Musical that we've known and loved– an exciting coming-of-age tale packed with developing friendships, budding romances, flaring rivalries, and of course, outstanding musical performances.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series stars Joshua Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, Kate Reinders, Sofia Wylie, Matt Cornett, Dara Renee, and more. It is executive produced by Tim Federle and Oliver Goldstick alongside the original High School Musical producers Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush. The first three episodes will be directed by Tamra Davis (Empire, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) with choreography by Zach Woodlee (Glee, Dumplin').
