The paste's blend of ginger root, cinnamon, clove and rice powder focus on the upper and lower back, legs and stomach to improve flexibility, while its heat and aromatic properties increase blood circulation. Boreh was said to be first experienced by rice farmers in Indonesia, a warm and soothing solution to their tired bodies after returing from the fields.
