If you're like me who's always on the lookout for new places to try, Cobalabamba is worth the visit!
A newly-opened place in Venice Piazza is a Fil-Mex cantina offering dishes which are a fusion of Filipino and Mexican flavors, and their pretty affordable too! Not only would the food and drinks make your tummy happy, the murals and décor are a feast to the eyes as well, it would actually remind you of that popular Mexican restaurant in Bali!
Start off your muy bueno meal with Choriqueso (P200) served on a hot skillet! Get a heaping scoop of the three cheese fondue with chorizo and pimiento, with the crispy taco chips it comes with. What's a mexican cantina without tacos? Cobalabamba has six kinds – lengua, lechon, grilled chicken, crispy fish, grilled shrimp and carne asada – served in pairs and its price ranges from P150-P195 only! We had one of their must-tries, the Crispy Fish Tacos (P150) which has a generous serving of famosa fish, pickled cucumber and onion and drizzled with sriracha aioli that has just the right amount of heat!

They also have two unique items on their menu: pizzadilla which is a hybrid of a pizza and quesadilla and an interesting take on a tacodog. They have four flavors of pizzadilla – Mexican Sisig, Coba Supreme, Crispy Chicken and Garlic & Cheese – that's baked in a light 10-inch whole wheat flour tortilla which becomes really crispy, perfect to hold all the toppings.
If you want something that's more filling, order from their off the grill choices which all comes with mexican rice – perfect for us Filipinos who can't live without rice! A personal favorite is the Chipotle Chicken (P185) which are skewered tender thigh quarters served with pickled cucumber and onion on the side and a chipotle sauce for dipping that packs on a sublte heat to it. The Tipsy Pork (P205), however, has a thick caramelized peanut sauce for dipping the tequila-marinated pork belly.

How can your meal be complete without dessert? Cobalabamba has a mean serving of Churros (P135), Spanish deep fried doughnuts that's soft inside and has a crisp outer layer – as it should be. It is dusted with cinnamon-sugar and served with a thick chocolate sauce!
